SSAU Chairman Pavlo Degtiarenko paid a working visit to Paris on December 11-12, 2017

Within December 11-12, 2017, the Chairman of SSAU was on a working visit to Paris (France).

On December 11, on the eve of the "Planetary Summit" organized by the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, SSAU Chairman took part in a meeting of the Heads of Space Agencies.

The Summit, which was the continuation of the Climate Conference COP21, was a unique opportunity to emphasize the role of space agencies in addressing climate change and give impetus to their joint actions.

Heads of Space Agencies agreed on a Declaration focusing on supporting a long-term series of high-quality satellite data and ensuring their dissemination, as well as involvement of various stakeholders.

During the meeting, the Declaration was solemnly adopted in the presence of F. Vidal, French Minister for Higher Education, Research and Innovation.

The same day, Pavlo Degtiarenko paid a visit to the headquarters of the International Academy of Astronautics (IAA), where he met with the Secretary General of the Academy Dr. J.-M. Contant. During the talks, the Parites discussed issues of preparation for the next Heads of Space Agencies Summit, which would take place under the auspices of the IAA in late 2018 early 2019 in Washington D.C., along with possible contribution of Ukraine to implementation of large-scale academic projects in the field of space debris mitigation, space awareness, and so on, as well as increase of representation of Ukraine in the committees and commissions of the IAA, etc.

Following the consultations, the plan of joint actions for the coming months was stipulated.
